2013 Small Business Inspirations

This year I have been fortunate to work with a number of very talented people who I have met (at least online) through my blog and Etsy shop.

I appreciate six ladies, in particular, who have shared stories about their lives and creative journeys on my blog. They truly have been inspirations.

The common thread in each story is that these women care deeply about what they do and take great pride in their work.

Here’s a peek at what they have been working on recently, new items available in their online shops and holiday deals.
Maryse Raynal-Robbins - Un Chiffon Fon Fon
Maryse is keeping busy this holiday season with craft shows, classes and  custom orders. In her free time she has also been refurbishing and reupholstering old furniture.

Maryse makes the most exquisite cartonnage boxes, baskets and frames. I actually had never heard of the craft until I met her.

Stop by her Etsy shop, Un Chiffon Fon Fon to see her carefully crafted designs. Some of my favorite items from her shop right now are the Christmas Giveaway Basket, Embroidered Fern Treasure Box, and Pale Blue Flower Tin.

Also, Maryse offers free shipping (within the US) on all of the adorable tin boxes in her shop.

Teena Stewart - Serendipitini
In addition to crafting, Teena is a blogger. She has interesting crafting tutorials and ideas as well as tips for success in the business of handcrafted items on her blog, Serendipitini. (I just love that name!)

Teena incorporates upcycled materials, especially wine bottles, into many of the creations in her Etsy shop, also called Serendipitini. Some of her featured items right now are a hurricane candle holder, hanging candle holder, and beach glass charm necklace.

If you are looking for a gift for the pet lover in your life, Teena also has an Etsy shop, Serendipitini Pet, that's filled with pet inspired products like this Weimaraner pendant.

Teena is offering free shipping on her collection of wine bottle candles and pet necklaces through December 20. Just use the coupon codes WINEBOTTLEDEC1 or PETNECDEC, when you place your order.

Carmen Bjornald - CeeBee Recycle
I think Carmen is an upcycling genius! She uses old hot air balloons as the main material in one of her shopping bag designs. You have to read the story behind her balloon bags. It's fascinating!

Carmen also incorporates paper into many of her designs. I love the contemporary look of her Modern Nativity Set.  And, her paper flowers are absolutely gorgeous!

I especially appreciate the time that goes into her woven paper purses because I have made bags similar to these. They take a lot of time and patience.

See Carmen’s complete collection in her Etsy shop, CeeBee Recycle.

Anne Schellman - Anne of Green Gardens
Anne was the inspiration for my fairy garden a few months ago. She has a lovely gardening blog called Anne of Green Gardens.

I am excited for Anne because her recent Kickstarter project was a success and her book "Anne of Green Gardens: Miniature Gardens" is due to be published soon. If you are in the San Francisco area, you can purchase a copy at the San Francisco Flower and Garden Show, March 19-23, 2014.

Also, don't miss Anne's Facebook page for updates about the book release and some great gardening trivia and ideas. I particularly enjoy Freaky Friday and Mystery Plant Monday.

Holly Guenther - Kimchi Kawaii
Holly's graphics are super cute! I smile every time she posts a new one, like #breakfast, on her Facebook page.

Two of the new holiday designs in Holly's Kimchi Kawaii shop on Zazzle are a Christmas Candle and Jolly Holly. You can get them printed on everything from ornaments, mugs and coasters to aprons, bags and T-shirts. (Zazzle runs lots of deals, especially during the holiday season. You can see a complete list on the Zazzle Coupons and Promotional Codes page.)

Holly also has a Kimchi Kawaii shop on Storenvy. There you can find adorable charms, hairclips, keychains, and jewelry like her red panda necklace. And don't miss the matching red panda earrings.

Andreia Miclaus - Rolling Ideas
Andreia's specialty is paper crafting, whether it's quilling, stamping or die cutting. The quilled creations in her Etsy shop, Rolling Ideas, have an extra layer of dimension that make the designs just pop.

Paper quilling is another one of those crafts I haven't tried yet, but it reminds me a bit of sculpting shapes with thin strips of paper. It looks quite complicated.

Andreia offers a variety of 2014 desk calendar designs as well as a  lovely collection of Christmas cards and tags.

In addition to her holiday cards, she creates other special occasion cards, tags, invitations and gift boxes.

Again, many thanks to the talented and inspirational ladies who have been a part of my blog this year.  Support small business and visit their blogs and shops. You won't be disappointed.

Love it? Share it. Make it.
