Crochet Pattern: Star Dreamcatcher

Beaded Star Dreamcatcher Crochet Pattern: mixed media for yarn loversTechnically, the technique and materials used to create this dreamcatcher is very different than a traditional, Native American dreamcatcher. However, I really couldn't find more appropriate terminology when naming this project.

This is a fun way to take a relatively simple crocheted doily design to the next level. Think of this as mixed media for fiber artists.

Don't be intimidated by the pattern, even if you have never incorporated beadwork into your crochet. It's a lot easier than you may expect.

Materials

Gauge

24 sts and rows in sc = 4 inches

Abbreviations

ch - chain
sc - single crochet
sl st - slip stitch
slb - slide bead so that it is snug against your work

Directions

Begin by stringing the beads onto your yarn in the following pattern:

[ABC] 2 times, [AABBCC] 10 times, [ABC] 24 times.

Note: The last bead you string onto your yarn will be the first bead you crochet into the design.

The entire piece is worked in continuous rounds with the wrong side facing. The beads will be on the back of your work as you crochet.

Decorate your dreamcatcher by attaching lengths of assorted ribbon, yarn or string to the bottom half of the ring. This is a great way to incorporate pretty bits and pieces from your yarn stash.
