I was so pleased with the way the pegboard project for my studio turned out that I decided to head out to the garage to tackle the clutter. We already had some pegboard mounted in the garage, but it just wasn't being used to it's full potential. It held a few odds and ends. Unfortunately, it was still difficult to get to the things we use the most. When both cars are parked in the garage, there just isn't a lot of extra space to move around.

This is where I started - two pegboards with some random yard tools.

My husband does most of the yard work, so I wanted to make sure that he still has all the necessary equipment within reach. But, I also wanted to add access to the basic tools that we frequently use like hammers, pliers and screw drivers. I hate having to squeeze between the car and the wall, past the prickly rakes, to get to the toolbox where I have to dig to find what I need.

I won't go through this project step-by-step, but I'll give you the basics.

I started by taking the pegboard off the wall. Then, I scoured my paint collection to see what options I had for adding a little color to the garage. I found a great color called Artificial Turf and used a roller to paint the pegboard.

The color name made me think about football, so I decided to make the pegboards into a football field. What is more manly and suited for the garage than anything football related? Once the field was in order, I got out the painter's tape and some white paint to add yard lines to my creation. I even painted the numbers on the yard lines. After the paint dried, I removed the tape and remounted the pegboard. Add some hooks and tools... touchdown! Organization in the end zone.
