Storybook Land

I love Disneyland! We went there for the first time three years ago. Since then, my daughter and I have made it our tradition to go each year in February during Rodeo Break. We pack as much as we can into two and a half days in the parks. We love the roller coasters, the classic rides like The Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, the fireworks, the World of Color show at California Adventure, the food, the characters, and just spending some time together having fun.

One attraction that we enjoy, that can easily be overlooked by park-goers, is the Storybook Land Canal Boats. This ride is absolutely charming. It's not a thrilling ride, but a magical to cruise past all the castles and villages from so many cherished Disney movies.

At the dock you board a boat and the journey begins when you enter the belly of Monstro the whale. When you exit Monstro's tail, you are transported around a series of miniature settings filled with amazing details.

Glide past the market from Aladdin,

the homes of the three little pigs,

Toad Hall,

Cinderella's Village,

Cinderella's Castle,

 Geppetto's Village,

Prince Eric and Ariel's Castle and more. It's a delightful little trip not to be missed.

Another attraction that we never miss is The Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-Through. You enter through a small door at the back of the castle. It's easy to walk right by it.

Once you enter the dark halls, you basically walk through the story of Sleeping beauty told through a series of storybook pages and amazing dioramas.

Our favorite part is near the end of the story. There is a simple wooden door on the left side of the passage with an ornate doorknob. The first time we enjoyed this attraction my daughter wondered what was behind the door. Since there were no signs saying "Keep Out" she reached for the knob and attempted to open the door. I think we both let out a squeal when the door pulled away from her hand accompanied by a rumbly growl.

Now, even though we know what will happen, we ALWAYS try to open the door and ALWAYS let out a laugh of surprise when the door grumbles and pulls away.

Only eleven and a half months until Rodeo Break and I can hardly wait to go back to Disneyland!
