Crocheted Pumpkin Pattern

Easy and Free PDF Pattern - How to crochet a bean bag Halloween pumpkin by The Chilly DogWhen I was working on the bean bag ball pattern for my 250th post a few weeks ago, I thought there might be a way to give the pattern a fall feel and use a variation to make crocheted pumpkins. So I dug through my yarn stash to see if I had some orange and green yarn suitable for the project. The result, some fun, fall bean bag pumpkins.

These little pumpkins could spice up your autumn decor just as they are or let the kids add a funny or spooky face with a bit of felt and some fabric glue.

Materials

  • Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in Carrot and Frosty Green
  • US size E crochet hook
  • 1 lb dried neavy beans
  • plastic yarn needle

Directions

Here's a downloadable version of my Crocheted Pumpkin Pattern. It has a detailed explanation of the stitches used and you can print it out so you don't need your computer sitting next to you while you work.

This pattern doesn't use a significant amount of yarn so check your stash before going out and buying more. If your yarn is a different weight, just make sure to use a small enough hook so that your stitches are small and tight so the beans stay contained inside your pumpkin. You don't want any Halloween tricks.
