In my perfect world, I would be able to live everyday in leggings, hand knit socks and a soft comfy top. Maybe it's a generational thing. Since I don't like cold ankles on leggings days, my favorite socks can be worn over my leggings. Yes, it's a little retro, but it's oh, so comfy!
Happy knitting!
Through Thick and Thin Socks Pattern
Materials
I chose to work with Knit One Crochet Too Crock-O-Dye yarn. It's super soft, and has some beautiful variegated colors. I used Merlot. My only word of caution would be to wash your socks separately the first couple times. I noticed the dye bled slightly during the first washing. The socks were still bright and beautiful, but one of my white towels was blushing.
Skills
These socks are worked from the toe up so you can easily adjust the height of the leg depending on how much yarn you have. The foot of the sock has narrow ridges across the instep while the leg has thicker bands all the way around.
Since the stitch pattern produces neat and tidy stripes, I used one of the neatest and tidiest heel methods I know, the Japanese or pinned short row heel. (Here's a basic tutorial for the Japanese short row heel if you are unfamiliar with it.)
