As a designer, I am always looking for ways to improve my designs and the Azalea Socks are a great example. This pattern is a re-design of one of my older works. It still features the same great twisted cable cuff and eyelet rows across the foot. The change comes in the heel and toe shaping. This time around I used a matching method for both the heel and toe and stitched them using yarn over short rows.
Azalea Socks Pattern
These socks were made with Zitron Trekking yarn. There are lots of solid and variegated colors to choose from. Also, since this is a superwash wool and nylon blend, these socks should stand up to many seasons of wear.
Skills
Don't let the short row shaping of the heel and toe intimidate you. Short rows are a lot easier than most knitters think.
In addition to the pattern, I created a series of five videos that demonstrate many of the skills used in this pattern - the old Norwegian cast on, twisted cable ribbing, yarn over short row heels, short row toe shaping and the Kitchener stitch. The videos can be found in the Azalea Socks playlist on my YouTube channel.
