Best Worsted Socks pattern has been updated and improved to include both top down and toe up instructions and a slight modification to the heel.
Best Worsted Socks
Originally designed with acrylic yarn, for better wear I now recommend using a wool or wool blend. Wool is a naturally anti-microbial fiber which helps reduce bacteria growth in garments and is often a logical choice for socks. I knit my socks with simpliworsted by HiKoo, a blend of 55% Merino superwash wool, 28% acrylic and 17% nylon. This yarn is available locally at many yarn shops and online at Makers' Mercantile.
Sizes and Skills
The pattern is graded for 4 sizes which should fit most adult sized feet. The heel for both the top down and toe up versions uses shadow wrapped short row shaping.
In addition to redesigning the pattern, I have also created four videos to demonstrate helpful skills. Topics include:
- Provisional Tubular Cast On
- Norwegian Purl
- Avoiding Extra Stitches at the Needle Change When Knitting in the Round
- Invisible Ribbed Bind Off
