Summer days can be oppressively hot and humid in the south, especially if you're doing any sort of physical activity outside. To make our kayaking adventures more enjoyable, we try to get out early. Often times the water is as smooth as glass. I especially like those days because it's easier to see the subtle ripples of fish or turtles swimming in the water and spot the occasional rogue water snake skimming the surface.
Whether the water is calm or choppy, the reflections of the sky and tree line mesmerize me. Sometimes I focus on a small, close-up section of the water, others I am moved by the broader view.
An intense reflection of the rising sun makes me ponder what a softer moonrise would look like from the same vantage point.
