Usually when we're out kayaking, my husband takes the lead, perhaps because I dawdle along and stop frequently to either absorb the energy around me or to take note of a scene that I'd like to study more deeply on the loom. When I pause, even if there is a significant distance between our boats, I drift through the bubbles he stirred up by the act of paddling.
The path of bubble trail changes and curves in different directions as the paddle enters, pushes through, then leaves the water.
In the studio, my thoughts wander. Bubbles... The bubbles look like little scraps of energy. They float on the surface adding a texture and dimension. Scraps... I keep lots of scraps in the studio. Fabric bits make great lay-ins to add color. What scraps could add texture and dimension? My answer came when I stumbled across a stash of twisted fringe that had been cut from a piece I deconstructed.
