Crochet Pattern: Triangle Motif

If you crochet, you have likely made a Granny Square or two. It's one of the quintessential crochet motifs. Motifs are great for on-the-go crafters because you work them a piece at a time and then connect them together into a scarf, afghan or shawl later.

I have nothing against squares, but sometimes you just have to experiment with new shapes and designs, like triangles. Here's a quick and easy triangle motif for your crocheting pleasure.

Special Stitch

#tr Cluster: [YO twice, insert hook into specified stitch, yo and pull through 1 loop, yo and pull through 2 loops, yo and pull through 2 loops] # times, yo and pull through all of the loops on the hook.

Directions

	Ch 6, sl st in first ch to form a ring.
	Rnd 1: Ch 6, [1 dc into ring, ch 3] 11 times, sl st into 3rd ch of the ch 6 at the beginning of the round, sl st into next ch.
	Rnd 2: Ch 4, 3tr Cluster in same arch, ch 4, sc in next ch 3 arch, ch 4, [4tr Cluster in next ch 3 arch, ch 4, sc, in next ch 3 arch, ch 4] 5 times, sl st in top of first cluster.
	Rnd 3: Ch 4, 3 tr in top of same cluster, ch 5, 4 tr in top of same cluster, ch 3, tr in next sc, ch 3, sc in top of next cluster, ch 3, tr in next sc, ch 3, [(4 tr, ch 5, 4 tr) in next cluster, ch 3, tr in next sc, ch 3, sc in top of next cluster, ch 3, tr in next sc, ch 3] 2 times, sl st in top of first ch 4.
	Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next 3 tr, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch 5 arch, dc in next 4 tr, 3 dc in next ch 3 arch, dc in next tr, 3 dc in next ch 3 arch, dc in next sc, 3 dc in next ch 3 arch, dc in next tr, 3 dc in next ch 3 arch, [dc in next 4 tr, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch 5 arch, dc in next 4 tr, 3 dc in next ch 3 arch, dc in next tr, 3 dc in next ch 3 arch, dc in next sc, 3 dc in next ch 3 arch, dc in next tr, 3 dc in next ch 3 arch] 2 times, sl st in top of first sc 4, fasten off.
