Like its predecessor, Glacial Melt, the form and colors of Glacial Melt 2 were heavily influenced by a trip to Glacier Bay National Park. I hardly have words for the experience. The landscape is powerful. I was overwhelmed by my insignificance relative to the time and space occupied by my surroundings. Experiencing this magnificent place was profoundly spiritual, but I was also haunted by a single question. How can a place so vast and substantial also be so fragile?

Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay National Park.

In my studio, I continued weaving with the same colors I selected for the first Glacial Melt piece.

This time as I wove, rather than representing the change of the glacier over time, I considered the flow of the glacier down the Fairweather Mountain Range towards Tarr Inlet.
