Even though I've lived most of my life land-locked, I love water and the ocean! It's a subject I come back to again and again in my weaving. I keep a shocking number of water and ocean photos in the "weaving inspirations" folders on my phone and computer to use for reference when I am preparing a weaving project. However, sometimes a picture or words from another source generate a creative spark.

When I came across this post in my Bluesky feed, I felt an instant sense of familiarity with the place. I knew I had been in that exact spot even before I saw the La Jolla hashtag.

Over the years, whenever we stayed in San Diego we couldn't miss an opportunity to visit La Jolla. Along the La Jolla Beach Trail there are usually sunny skies, spectacular ocean views, people watching opportunities, and of course lots of impressive marine life.

In the studio, I sketched out a few potential ideas for my weaving design and played with color as a part of my daily pages practice.
