Often times when I'm at the loom seeing the ways the colors or shapes of a design interact triggers a thought about how that interaction could be used to illustrate another theme. This is exactly what happened when I pulled Pine off the loom.

Before the off-loom finishing of Pine, I was able to step back and look at the piece from a distance. In addition to the terrestrial imagery evoked by the geometry and colors, I saw how the design could be interpreted as volcanic flow, or the growth of mountains over time.

Blending fiery, misty and cool colors, with additional hatching elements, I developed triangular progressions, similar to Pine, to demonstrate the growth of land over time rather than the growth of a tree.
