Make 1

One of the most common ways to increase a stitch in your knitting.

The make one or make one left, abbreviated M1 or M1L, is probably the most common way to increase a stitch in your knitting. It is created by knitting a stitch into the horizontal strand between your needle tips, twisting that strand in the process.

In this lesson I'll demonstrate how to M1 in your knitting, as well as how to do it at a needle change when you are using small circumference knitting in the round for hats or socks.
