Twining in Rows
Twining is a Scandinavian colorwork technique where stitches are worked in alternating colors. Rather than carrying floats on the WS, the yarns are twisted around each other on the RS. If only worked for two rows, this technique is known as a Latvian braid. However, twining can also be worked over multiple rows to create a herringbone-like design and fabric with a little extra thickness and "squish".
For socks, twining can be a fun and functional alternative to a plain heel flap.
