Since moving to rural-ish Alabama, whenever I drive from our to home I pass multiple farmers' fields. Even if only a few days have passed between excursions, there are noticeable changes in the local fields of cotton, corn and beans. Soil is tilled. Seeds are sown. Plants grow. Fields are harvested. The earth freezes. Crops change. The cycle repeats.
As I considered how to represent this ongoing cycle on the loom, I did a quick study piece to explore the changing colors I see throughout the seasons. As is often the case, I start by choosing colors and considering their value with a grayscale photo.
